UWF Campus Map + 3D map

Image
In this week's lab, I made two different maps. One of them is showing UWF campus plus an Eagle's nest close to it and the other one is a 3D version of it. They will both be attached down below. During this lab, I learned a lot because I used the georeferencing tools and I got to practice polynomial transformations. I was able to create a hyperlink in ArcGIS and I also practiced to create Multiple Ring Buffers. I  made my first 3D map and I feel pretty excited about it.

This week I completed the Vector Analysis series for the lab. I learned how to use the buffer and overlay tools. I also learned the difference between variable buffer and multi-ring buffer. I also learned how to use the different tools to run an overlay. I used the union tool to create the buffer needed to isolate the parameters for our campsites. This map is also showing a legend with bright colors to draw the attention to the zones with the largest area values. The yellow shows the lowest values, the purplish/reddish color represent the mid values, and the black color represent the highest values. Below is a map of potential campground sites with the buffers and overlays created.

Projections Lab Week 3!

I feel very satisfied with how this week's map came out! I read the instructions several times before starting it. I worked on this project for about 5 or 6 hrs because I try to take my time to be able to understand all the steps. During this project I used the project and project raster tools in ArcGIS to re-project data to a common Projected Coordinate System. I was also able to get my hands on working with data being displayed in multiple map views in ArcGIS Pro. I also learned how to quantified the difference in area (square miles) among the three different maps and their projected coordinate system.

Cartography Lab

During this week's lab I was able to use different map elements like the north arrow, scale bar, map title, a legend and text box. Although I think this lab assignment was a little bit harder than the first one, I feel confident that I did a good job. This lab gave me the opportunity to learn more about the ArcGIS Pro app and how to use it. This maps shows the Escambia County, Florida and different elements like major rivers, interstates and cities. Each of them are represented by different colors and elements like lines, circles, or even stars. This different elements help to better understand what the map shows and how to read it. I was able to add/create a legend on my map with a better description of what each element is. The map also shows the name of the school located in this county and its logo.

Week 1 Lab

During this week's lab, we used ArcGIS Pro to create a map that had two different layers. The first layer is Cities and this layer represents the locations of major cities of the world. The second layer is World_Countries and represents on the map the generalized boundaries for the countries of the world as they existed in January 2008. This assignment allowed me to prepare for future labs and to be able to install all the necessary software to submit my weekly work for the rest of the semester to receive a grade.
